Job Summary and Qualifications

The Unit Secretary plays a vital role in promoting customer service initiatives, handling telephones, and addressing public inquiries courteously and efficiently. They are responsible for accurately processing orders, promptly communicating stat orders to relevant personnel, and maintaining patient charts and adequate supply levels. The Unit Secretary ensures smooth workflow within the department by following directions and adhering to established procedures.

What you will do in this role:

• You will promote customer service initiatives by providing courteous assistance to patients, guests, physicians, and other employees.
• You will handle telephones and respond to public inquiries in a professional manner, directing calls and messages appropriately.
• You will accurately process orders and promptly convey stat orders to the relevant personnel to ensure timely response.
• You will maintain patient charts and ensure par levels of supplies are stocked, contributing to efficient operations.
• You will follow directions effectively to support the workflow of the department and ensure tasks are completed accurately and on time.

Qualifications:

• Demonstrated experience with each of the required areas of expertise in section I.
• Interpersonal skills to successfully interact with patients, guests, physicians, and other employees.
• Current Heart Saver/BLS certification (new hire/transfer must obtain within 6 months of hire date.)

General Essential Functions:

• Ability to commit to a Part-Time Weekend schedule working each Friday and Saturday from 7am-7pm
• Supports the facility’s Standards of Performance and ICARE values.
• Participates in staff meetings and attends other meetings and seminars/professional development as requested by manager.
• Observes and abides by established safety practices.
• Ensures accuracy and completeness of work.
• Demonstrates a thorough knowledge and understanding of policies and procedures involved in performing job duties.
