CWU is accepting applications for individuals to perform grounds keeping work. These positions are designated as temporary/hourly positions.
Assist Grounds Operations staff in performing general gardening maintenance such as litter collection, raking leaves, mowing lawns, laying sod, pulling weeds, setting irrigation pipe and sprinklers, planting trees and other landscape material using a variety of manual tools and equipment such as rakes, pruning shears, edger’s, loppers, shovels, wheelbarrows, lawn mowers, weed eaters, backpack blowers, hedge trimmers.
Preferred Qualifications
Pay: Minimum wage $16.28 to $18.00 per hour/Dependent on position and experience
Schedule/Hours: Generally M-F 6:00 am - 2:30 pm (1/2 hour lunch) Job end date to be determined.
Working Conditions: Outdoor work will include work in extreme seasonal temperatures and weather including, sun, rain and snow. Often requires standing/crawling/bending/walking/climbing while carrying/pulling/pushing/lifting associated with equipment or tools. May need to drive a service vehicle or equipment in congested areas.
Additional Information: This announcement will be used to develop a pool of applicants for temporary/hourly grounds positions through December 2024. Selected applicants may be called on short notice to fill positions on an as-needed basis, however this posting does not imply that a position will be filled or any guarantee that applicants will be contacted.
Benefits: As of January 1, 2018 all Student and Temporary/Hourly positions are eligible to accrue paid sick leave. This leave will accrue at one (1) hour of paid sick leave for every 40 hours of work.
