Job Description

Under the sponsorship of Hamilton-Madison House, the NORC (Naturally Occurring Retirement Community) is a partnership of a social service provider, the housing partner (Knickerbocker Village), a health care partner, and the seniors. Beyond these core partners, the NORC brings together community resources, develops, maintains, and expands partnerships to provide a supportive environment and services that allow those residing in the complex, aged 60 and over, to be able to age in place and remain active and engaged members of the community for as long as possible in high-quality, high-volume, culturally and linguistically appropriate services and programs that have a high public profile and visibility. The computer instructor is an integral part of the KV NORC SSP interdisciplinary team, providing individual and group technology assistance and lectures to older adults, allowing them to successfully age in place, remain active, and engaged in the technology learning process.

Responsibilities:

  • Teach a weekly computer class to non-English-speaking older adults.
  • Create teaching materials.
  • Assist with the computer, tablet, and mobile systems.
  • Assist members with technology issues and user access.
  • Teach Zoom and GoToMeeting accessibility.
  • Guidance on internet safety
  • Teach how to utilize emails.

Qualifications:

  • Associate Degree in Computer Science or a related field; relevant work experience is a plus.
  • General understanding of compute, tablet, and cellular devices
  • Knowledge of Windows Server and all Microsoft Word, Excel, and Adobe programs is a plus.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Bilingual English/Asian Language required.
Compensation: $33.65 per hour
Hours: Monday and Wednesday, 2 hours per week
