Job Description

Who are we hiring?
The Supervisor, Building Operations is responsible for the daily operational & administrative process pertaining to cleaning operations of the Chicago Theater and all other BOH office and support areas as determined by the Senior Manager of Building Operations.
What will you do?
  • Responsible for the daily operation & administration of the custodial department.
  • Consistent and thorough communication with Department Manager regarding building deficiencies and staff issues.
  • Orchestrate daily inside labor activities to foster a seamless and cooperative delivery of service while minimizing internal conflict.
  • Highly responsive in emergency evacuations in a fast paced, time sensitive environment.
  • Familiar with event budgets and consciously manage custodial labor cost for event and post event cleaning.
  • Promoting and handling logistics of employee recognition program, employee knowledge checks and surveys.
  • Plan, schedule and organize all shift work.
  • Tracking staff attendance and resolving staff issues in a timely manner.
  • Manage the cleaning material and supply inventory as well as the inventory for all restroom consumables. Track spending throughout the year.
  • Responsible for maintaining a first-class operation, delivering superior service to internal and external clients.
  • Attend necessary training to assure the utilization of the latest and most efficient cleaning materials and equipment.
  • Supervise Full time and Part time custodial staff.

What do you need to succeed?
  • The ideal candidate will have a minimum 2-3 years’ management experience, and knowledge of events, theatre operations, within an entertainment venue.
  • Previous supervisory experience in Custodial/Housekeeping with an emphasis on operations & administration preferred.
  • Candidates who have completed a minimum of 60 credit hours of college-level coursework (representing 2 years), or have shown similar self-development through certifications, trade school coursework, etc. are preferred.
  • Excellent communication skills, ability to mobilize key stakeholders, and engage with all levels in the organization.
  • Adept at maintaining a positive, open, approachable, and professional relationship with a diverse staff.
  • Comfortable with managing conflict and responding to customer problems with a sense of urgency.
  • Ability to demonstrate success in managing multiple tasks while under tight deadlines.
  • Experience motivating, and encouraging exceptional performance.
  • Ability to hold team accountable for outcomes and monitor performance.
  • Demonstrated experience coaching, mentoring and developing staff to perform at high levels.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Proficiency in general computer, email, and internal software programs.
  • Complete other duties as assigned by Management.

Special Requirements:
  • Must be receptive to working outside in inclement weather and extreme temperatures.
  • Must be comfortable with heights (working on high floors) and navigating steep steps and inclines.
  • Must be able to carry 10-pound back-pack vacuum to clean theatre, isles, seats, and stairs.
  • Must be able to lift 25 lbs. safely.
  • Ability to stand and move about the theater throughout the duration of the shift.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule including days, nights, have split days off, work weekends and holidays in a 24 X 7 environment.
  • Ability to speak English/Spanish is a plus.
