DCBS seeks a Part-Time (works less than 100 hours per month) Social Service Worker I who is driven to succeed in helping people and advance family self-sufficiency. The Social Service Worker I is a skilled team member, providing a vital link between the children, families, and local community partners. The employee is expected to perform at the highest quality to ensure services to the vulnerable citizens. Responsibilities included but not limited to:
- Under direct supervision in processing referrals that involve allegations of dependency/abuse/neglect from Community Partners and the public.
- Perform in a fast-paced environment that requires excellent time management skills.
- Talk with other interested parties such as community, school, and medical staff to gather additional information.
- Make referrals to outside community resources to assist the family in overcoming identified barriers and to keep children safe in a permanent home and promote their well-being.
- Process referrals according to time frames established and maintain a high level of customer service while handling additional duties.
- Enter case/report information into the computer.
- Provide testimony during administrative and judicial hearings.
- Work closely with community partners such as law enforcement, school systems, counselors, and shelters.
- Potentially meeting with community partners and varied stakeholders and helping through training and community relation.
