Social Case Worker I - Kinship

Part time - 20 hours per week, temporary

SUMMARY

Provides professional case management services to program clients to improve client stability, self-sufficiency and personal growth and development.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Applies appropriate techniques and standards in program development and service delivery of case management services to clients under close supervision.
  • Newsletter creation, content research, adding new recipients, distribution monthly.
  • New caregiver checklist when a caregiver joins a monthly support group. Addition of caregiver to all documents on checklist.
  • Providing information to caregivers about our program that complete online interest form or call the program.
  • Group communication to include monthly group reminders, confirmation of group RSVP’s, communication of group RSVPs to Kinship FTE, communication with caregivers if group is changed.
  • Group planning and support to include researching topics, outreach to potential guest speakers and or facilitation of a topic at monthly groups.
  • Family event planning and support to include researching venues, setting up logistics of events, communicating with venue contacts, event information and advertising materials, communication with caregivers about event and taking of RSVP’s.
  • Monthly grant data tracking-enter calls and email communication with caregivers, outreach communication with professionals.
  • Assistance with grant reporting as needed by Director.
  • Program document organization to include creation of new caregiver information packets, creating new caregiver file folders, document scanning projects and other projects as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Demonstrate strong communication, organizational and interpersonal skills.
  • Knowledge of and ability to apply the basic theories and practices of counseling and social work, interviewing and assessment techniques, and professional reports and documents preparation.
  • Skills in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with clients, other employees, organizations and the public are required.
  • Flexible and ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
  • Basic knowledge of computers to input information, maintain client and program data, and create communications.
  • Knowledge of the service population’s cultural and socioeconomic characteristics and the appropriate techniques and practices for the client population.
  • Ability to interact effectively as a team member and independently with Agency staff and with a diverse client base.


EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

Bachelor's degree (BA/BS) field from an accredited college or university in social work or assigned program specific specialty. At least 6 months additional related experience and/or training preferable.


LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.


REASONING ABILITY

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

Compensation & Benefits

Salary: $20.00- $22.00 / hour

Schedule: 20 hours per week. Tuesday, Wednesday & Thursday. Family events may be on different days of the week.

Duration of position: May 1, 2024 - July 1, 2024

Location: Smith Rd will be the home base for position. Mulroy Day Center secondary location.
**Remote working available on a limited basis and only with prior approval of supervisor. **
