Community of Scholars Resident Assistant Opportunity:
  • The School of International Service (SIS) is currently accepting applications for resident assistant (RA) positions for its two-week
    Community of Scholars
    (CoS) pre-college summer program. We are looking for motivated candidates to join our team. While previous resident assistant experience is preferred, all candidates with relevant experience are encouraged to apply.
Job Duties:
  • As an RA, you will live in dormitories with CoS-participating high school students for the duration of the program (July 8 to July 19). Your responsibilities will include facilitating evening activities, overseeing free time/study periods, assisting with daytime activities, and addressing any student concerns that may arise. Additionally, RAs will need to attend a mandatory Zoom training session in June (date TBD) and an in-person orientation on July 7.
  • RAs may hold other employment commitments during the program but must maintain flexibility throughout the two weeks. You will rotate being on-call each morning to assist students as they prepare for class and serve as emergency contacts during the night. Furthermore, RAs will be required to supervise students and participate in activities throughout the weekend of July 13 and 14.
Educational Requirements:
  • Must be a current undergraduate student during the summer.
Minimum Requirements:
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to get along with residents of various cultures and backgrounds.
  • Strong problem-solving skills.
  • Leadership and public speaking skills.
  • Ability to work in a team environment.
  • Ability to work in multicultural environments.
  • Comfortable moving event tables/chairs and able to lift 25 pounds.
Preferred Requirements:
  • Previous experience working in an AU residence hall.
Stipend:
  • This position offers a stipend of $1,100 along with housing and meals provided for the duration of the two-week program. RAs will have one evening off during the twelve days.
  • Please note that this position is contingent upon the successful completion of a background check.
