New Graduates

New registered nurse (RN) graduates benefit from a comprehensive, personalized support system. All RNs in their first nursing role are invited to participate in a Nurse Residency Program alongside nursing orientation. The program provides socialization and support, enhances clinical judgment, and promotes professional development.

Are you looking for a pediatric Registered Nurse position that offers a firm foundation of nursing skills and knowledge in a supportive environment? We have openings within our Peds Rehab unit at Riley Hospital for Children. This is a place where you can make a positive impact on the lives of your patients while also building strong relationships with your colleagues and developing your nursing practice with the support of your colleagues.

As a Registered Nurse within our Peds Rehab unit, we see patients with home vents, burn patients, and patients with traumatic brain injuries. We provide training to care for pediatric patients with stroke, spinal cord injury, brain injury, burns, amputation, neurological disorder, multiple trauma injuries, cerebral palsy, debility, pain syndrome, & other disabling impairments. On this unit you will help to develop and implement strategies based on established nursing theories that encourage self-care, and helps to foster the physical, spiritual and the psychosocial well-being of the patients you are caring for. Our team is ambitious and innovative as we strive to meet the needs of our patients while restoring their quality of life.

Nursing skills gained on this unit:

  • Assessment & care of Pediatric & Adolescent patients with physiological conditions of recent onset or regression who are experiencing a loss of function in activities of daily living, mobility, cognition, &/or communication
  • WeeFim scoring, adaptive equipment, transfer devices, tracheostomies, ventilators, GTubes, assistive devices, urinary catheters, peripheral IVs, central lines, wound vacs, splints, braces, ostomies, & dressing changes

  • Only Pediatric Rehabilitation Facility in the state of Indiana
  • CARF Nationally Certified (Commission on Accreditation of Rehab Facilities)
  • Daisy Nominations & Awards, Red Shoe Awards, & Surprise Compliment Recipients

Unit Culture Highlights:

  • Collaboration with Occupational Therapy, Speech Therapy, Physical Therapy, Recreational Therapy, School, & Physical Medicine/Rehab Medical Team.

  • A one team approach partnering with children & their families to develop adaptive skills towards recovery & support their transition home.

Qualifications

  • Requires Associates of Nursing (ASN); Bachelor of Nursing (BSN) preferred.
  • Requires an active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Indiana or an active Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC) RN license.
  • Requires that the RN has graduated from a nationally accredited nursing program.
  • Requires Basic Life Support certification through the AHA.
  • Other Advanced Life Support certifications may be required per unit/department specialty according to patient care policies.
