Job Description

The Parish of Three Harbours is currently looking for a part-time minister to be a pastor to our beautiful three-point parish.

We are located in Antigonish and Guysborough counties, where the countryside is stunning and the people welcoming.

We are a community-oriented parish, both within our churches and the towns we are located.

As Archbishop Rowan Williams said, “Faith and hope and love are the heart of our discipleship, of our learning and growing in Christ.”

The three churches in the parish are St. Paul’s (Antigonish), St. Mary’s (Bayfield) and Holy Trinity (Country Harbour).

Antigonish is the regional hub, where you will find St. Francis Xavier University, St. Martha’s Regional Hospital and a strong school network.

Bayfield is a fishing community that boasts spectacular beaches and wonderful lobster.

Country Harbour is a rural community with amazing woods and the loveliest of sunsets over the river.

In our parish you will find many ways to enjoy the outdoors and engage with strong communities.

Like many parishes in the diocese, we are parishioners on the more experienced-side of life.

That said though, we are not a stodgy lot.

We are congregations that embrace openness.

We welcome different liturgies, music and ways of engaging with God’s word.

We love having children and youth in our midst.

Bible and book studies are a regular occurrence and have a strong core of participants.

Like many, we have embraced technology, and post a service every week for those that are unable to make it to church.

We are excited about what new ideas and energies a new priest can bring.

As the part-time priest of Three Harbours you will have a strong support network.

We have a deacon and lay ministers that will be able to assist in service planning and delivery.

Our councils are effective and efficient groups that take seriously their role as stewards of the churches and parish.

The congregations are small but they do live the idea that “where two or three are gathered together in my name, there am I in the midst of them.”

If you feel that you are called to our parish, we will be able to offer part-time wages as set out by the Diocese and can provide a rectory for you to live in.
