Summary
Pharmacy technicians assist pharmacists in preparing and distributing medications, maintaining the drug inventory, and maintaining patient records. Pharmacy technicians work under direct supervision of a registered pharmacist and do not perform duties that can legally be performed only by a registered pharmacist.
Responsibilities
This individual's responsibilities include (but are not limited to): Accurately fill and label medication orders with correct strength, dosage form, and quantity in a timely manner. Accurately stock automated dispensing cabinets (ADCs) in a timely manner. Fill/refill emergency crash carts, boxes, and kits timely and accurately. Re-package and label oral medications/extemporaneous preparations and maintain appropriate records. Respond appropriately to requests for STAT orders, routine orders, department requests, and ADC stock out bulletins. Assure all medications are checked by a pharmacist prior to dispensing. Stock medications into pharmacy inventory, including sterile compounding areas. Maintain adequate medication stock levels and proper storage of medications. Deliver medications to patient care areas. Attend to medication requests and phone calls. Prepare simple IV admixtures (excluding chemotherapy, biotherapy) accurately, consistent with IV policies and procedures (USP<797> and USP<800>). Comply with state and federal regulatory requirements, Joint Commission standards and Tenet and hospital policies and procedures. Assist in performing various duties as assigned.
Education
Required: High school graduate or equivalent
Experience
Required: Must be 18 years of age
Preferred: Hospital experience
Certifications
Required: Registered Pharmacy Technician license/certification, as required by state law.
Preferred: Accredited training in sterile products preparation and IV Admixture Certification

Pay Range: $20.15 - $25.82
Individual wages are determined based upon a number of factors including, but not limited to, an employee’s qualifications and experience.
