Job Description

What is PASS? Partners for After School Success (PASS) is a multi-site AmeriCorps program run by Dane County Human Services in partnership with host site agencies that provide youth development programming in Madison and surrounding communities. Members serve at school or community-based host sites in predominantly low-income or resource scarce communities with the goal of addressing the unmet educational needs of middle and high school youth. PASS provides extensive training to prepare members to deliver its core activities of academic coaching, engaging youth in service-learning projects and facilitating after-school enrichment programs that build social-emotional skills in youth. Members learn about community resources, providing culturally informed youth work, mandated reporting and issues impacting youth such as bullying, mental health and trauma, immigration, poverty and homelessness, to name a few. Members are enrolled in a countywide network of youth workers to begin developing professional connections. Members receive on site supervision and have weekly opportunity to connect with other Corps members. PASS is committed to providing members the opportunity, support and structure needed to lead projects, develop work skills, serve youth and build a professional foundation to launch a successful career! In addition to service at host sites, PASS encourages members to participate in local, state and regional service efforts. Our term starts with a group team-building service project in remembrance of September 11. Local service opportunities occur throughout the year including "Alternative Spring Break" where members plan a regional service trip. PASS is filled with learning opportunities!
