Catholic Charities of Baltimore, the Weinberg Housing and Resource Center is a low-barrier emergency shelter that provides homeless services to over 275 adult men and women each night in the City of Baltimore. Our services include shelter, convalescent care, breakfast and dinner, showers, laundry, case management and a variety of life skills and empowerment classes – with a focused goal of assisting residents in obtaining permanent housing.

Catholic Charities of Baltimore is currently seeking an Operations Supervisor who will support the Operations Manager in managing the day-to-day operations of the WHRC facility. Schedule: Saturday/Sunday/Holidays 7pm to 7am

JOB DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Ensures all day-to-day operations of WHRC run smoothly and professionally. Assures the safety and security of clients, staff, and volunteers by providing adequate coverage in the buildings.
  • Supervision of assigned staff, including the hiring, orienting, training, coaching, evaluating, as well as disciplining of these staff members.
  • Maintains security of shelter clients by closely monitoring the WHRC facility and by following shelter procedures; monitoring logbook; ensuring the inside and outside of the facility is properly staffed and conduct routine walks through the facility, checking resident rooms, bathrooms, storage areas and the outside properties for unusual activity.
  • Make certain Critical Incident Reports and Client Grievances are handled with urgency, sensitivity and accuracy, ensuring all such incidents are properly reported to the Program Director and the Operations Manager as soon as possible and no later than 24 hours of an incident.
  • Assist with data collection, program evaluation, and report generation to the Operations Manager of WHRC and external funding sources, as directed.
  • Assist the Operations Manager in the oversight of food service; ensuring resident meals are served on time and in compliance with the State of Maryland regulations; and ensuring the kitchen service area is properly managed and any refrigerator, pantry and workspaces are clean and orderly.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in related field such as management, business, human services and three years of related experience in human services, building operations or related experience of which two years were in a supervisory capacity or equivalent combination of education.
  • Prefer experience working with the homeless or at-risk populations.
  • Proven skills in management, oral and written communication, planning, negotiation, conflict resolution, budget and teamwork skills.
  • The ability to be flexible with schedule and shift changes with the ability to work on days, weekends and holidays and inclement weather.

REQUIREMENTS & ABILITIES:


  • Ascending or descending ladders, stairs, and ramps, etc.
  • Light work that includes moving objects up to 20 pounds.
  • Moving self in different positions to accomplish tasks in various environments including tight and confined spaces.
  • Moving about to accomplish tasks or moving from one work site to another. Repeating motions that may include the wrists, hands, and/or fingers.
  • Communicating with others to exchange information.
  • Working in low or high temperatures and outdoor elements such as precipitation and wind.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS & WORK ENVIRONMENT:

  • Light work that includes moving objects up to 20 pounds.
  • Remaining in a stationary position, often standing, or sitting for prolonged periods.
  • Moving about to accomplish tasks or moving from one work site to another.

  • Hearing and vision abilities within normal range (corrected) to drive safely and to observe and communicate with clients.
  • If driving on Agency business, must be at least 21 years of age and have valid driver’s license issued by the state of residence, with no more than 3 points
