Job Description

Department Overview:
The Oncology Social Worker offers social work intervention through direct treatment and provision or coordination of needed services to outpatients and/or their families experiencing psychosocial adjustment difficulties associated with illness, injury, disability, and related hospitalization. The primary goal of the intervention is to assist patients in achieving maximum physical and psychosocial functioning. The Oncology Social Worker will provide support to patients in clinic with psychosocial/BMT evaluations and will provide support to the inpatient CHM team, when needed. The Social Worker participates in or provides professional education programs within the agency and community, provides supervision to social work interns, and may provide social work consultation to community agencies.

This position supports clinical work within the Center for Hematologic Malignancies.

Posting Pay:
$40.30 - $55.35 per hour, Commensurate with Experience
Function/Duties of Position:
  • Psychosocial assessment
  • Patient services (refers patient/family to services in and out of hospital, acts as advocate, assists patient and family in accessing resources)
  • Counseling – individuals, couples and support groups
  • Departmental functions (contributes to the development and evaluation of new programs to meet identified patient needs etc)
  • Documentation
Required Qualifications:
  • Masters in Social Work degree
  • Healthcare experience
  • Clinical skills including mental health assessment acumen
  • LCSW, or CSWA and working toward LCSW
  • Ability to perform the job duties with or without accommodation.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • 2 years Oncology Social Work Experience
  • Bilingual/Bicultural
  • Oncology Social Work Credentialed (OSW-C) or eligible
