Department Overview:
The OHSU-PSU School of Public Health (SPH) is aligned with the American Public Health Association in declaring racism a public health crisis, and our School is committed to becoming an antiracist SPH. Function/Duties of Position:
OHSU-PSU is the US partner of GreenME and will focus initially on Multnomah County. Your work will involve interviewing Multnomah County GreenCare providers (e.g., healthcare workers, greenspace/bluespace/gardening program facilitators, NGOs), as well as environment and health decision makers. Interviews can be in-person or virtual (depending on the interviewee’s and your own preferences). You will have flexibility to find a meeting time that suits your schedule. Any travel costs (public transit or fuel) will be reimbursed.


Key Duties:

  • Work independently, but also collaboratively as part of an international team of environmental equity researchers (GreenME: https://greenme-project.eu/team/)
  • Contact GreenCare practitioners and decision makers in Multnomah County (previously identified as part of another deliverable) and schedule 40-minute interviews (online or in-person);
  • Conduct semi-structured interviews about GreenCare and mental health equity with practitioners/decision makers (interview questions have been prepared);
  • Tag interview responses with a user-friendly research tool (CATMA); no experience required!

This role is an especially good fit for applicants who are interested in nature prescribing, horticulture therapy, greenspace/bluespace interventions, nature-based health promotion, as well as understanding the equity aspects of GreenCare programs in Multnomah County (who can access these programs and who can’t, and why?).
Required Qualifications:
  • Enrolled in or on vacation from or is otherwise registered in Graduate Program
  • A prior public-facing role (not necessarily academic) and basic computer skills (e.g., emailing, sending a calendar invitation, writing in Word) are necessary.
  • Strong interest in environmental health, mental health equity, or qualitative public health research. Good documentation and organization skills are essential, as well as the ability to independently schedule interviews and conduct interviews in a professional manner. The applicant should be personable and interested in understanding the opportunities and barriers that GreenCare practitioners and decision makers face in Multnomah County.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience conducting surveys/interviews is preferred, however, all materials and training will be provided.
