Job Description

Overview:
Green Bay Dressed Beef, LLC, an American Foods Group Company has opportunity for a part-time Occupational Health Assistant at our Acme plant.

Working Conditions:
Clinic environment within a workplace; office and manufacturing setting.
Requires access to confidential and sensitive information, requiring ongoing discretion and secure information management.

Essential Functions:
  • Responsible for providing occupational health services and first aid to employees or persons who become ill or injured on the premises.
  • Administer first aid treatment to injured persons.
  • Assess nature and extent of illness or injury to establish and prioritize medical procedures.
  • Assess employee’s ability to perform job duties based on knowledge of the jobs and process and makes recommendations to management.
  • Observe and thoroughly document the patient’s condition or injury and related events, treatment provided, and reactions to treatment.
  • Coordinate with other medical team members, providers, and workers’ compensation adjustors.
  • Communicate issues and updates to appropriate members of management.
  • Maintain records of treatment and care of employees in accordance with applicable regulations, ensure confidentiality of information, exercises discretion with sensitive information.
  • Assist with administration of workers’ compensation and injury reduction practices, and investigations, employee assistance programs and drug policy.
  • Maintain and promote a positive attitude toward employees.
  • Examine employees for capability of performing duties and determines best interventions.
  • Follows basic precautions to prevent exposure.
  • Monitors injured employees’ vital signs and status to determine if ambulatory care is needed.
  • Provides employees’ status updates to appropriate members of management.
  • Assists with administration of workers’ compensation program, employee assistance programs and drug policy.
  • Perform record reviews, observations, trainings, and other tasks as required.
  • Administer employee audiometric tests.
  • Data entry and maintenance of designated information in Excel, HRIS system, or designated system; generate reports and complete clerical tasks as directed.

Qualifications:
Minimum Qualifications (Required):
  • Must be 18 years of age or older.
  • Must be able to work in the United States without sponsorship.
  • Current LPN/LVN, EMT or paramedic certification. MA or CNA certification with experience OR similar emergency response experience or assessment skills experience will be considered.
  • Current CPR and 1st Aid Certification.
  • Basic knowledge of professional nursing theory and practice and common safety hazards and precautions.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with all types of employees and the medical community.
  • Experience using office technology including computers, voicemail, copiers and scanners to create documents and effectively relay information.
  • Fluency in Spanish or Hmong a plus (reading, speaking, and writing).
  • Must be able to work hours contingent on business need.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Minimum 1 year experience in vocational or manufacturing/occupational setting desired.
  • Occupational Hearing Conservationist certification.
  • Workers’ compensation experience.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Excellent verbal and written communication and active listening skills.
  • Problem sensitivity and ability to react calmly and effectively in emergency situations.
  • Strong deductive and inductive reasoning skills.
  • Good judgment, decision making, and problem solving skills.
  • Good time management; ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects.
  • Self-starter; able to function with limited direct supervision.
