Job Description

Function/Duties of Position:
Under direct supervision, the student worker primarily performs basic research or lab activities similar to a Research Assistant 1 or Lab Aide. Work will be bench science conducted at the Portland VA. Duties include the following: (1) quantify gene and protein expression in tissue from neurodegenerative disease mouse models; (2) analyze data and prepare figures. This position will be 30-35 hours/week for 12 weeks in the summer and then transition to 10-20 hours/week in the academic year. Hours will be within 8am-5pm window Monday- Friday.
Required Qualifications:
Enrolled in or on vacation from, or is otherwise registered in an undergraduate program (minimum 6 credit hours) OR graduate program (minimum 4.5 credit hours).
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Previous reseearch experience
  • Competence with Microsoft office programs
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 10 lbs
