Job Description

Position Overview:
We are seeking a highly skilled Natural Habitat Restoration Specialist that has a background with course design and delivery to possibly collaborate on a part time project that will help our team and partners in the development and execution of a specialized training course focused on Meadows Restoration. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in course design, planning, and delivery, ensuring the attainment of course objectives and student learning outcomes. This project has an expected end date of around August 30, 2024 with a total of of around 200 hours. All conversion, coordination, associated tasks and deliverables will occur at your place of business, our partner's National Training Center (Phoenix, AZ), or at locations to be determined and approved by our partner's. Your travel will be fully covered by our agency.

Responsibilities:

I. DESCRIPTION OF WORK

Task 1: Course Design and Planning

  • Collaborate with the Project Lead and other stakeholders to develop comprehensive course descriptions, objectives, and refined curriculum.
  • Participate in regular planning meetings and calls for effective partner coordination, increasing frequency leading up to the course launch.
  • Work closely with partners to integrate virtual training components with advanced field training events.
  • Develop daily PowerPoint presentations for the online workshop, focusing on pre-course field preparation and course details to optimize efficiency during the in-person sessions.
  • Provide soil scientist expertise to inform course design based on past experiences.

On-line Virtual Training

  • Attend planning sessions and course practice sessions.
  • Serve as the primary presenter during the virtual training event.

Task 2: Course Delivery and Completion Activities

  • Assist in the delivery and supervision of lessons and exercises designed to enhance student learning and achieve training objectives.
  • Conduct classroom and field sessions, ensuring effective delivery of training modules.
  • Conduct site visits before the course to refine field training arrangements in collaboration with partners.
  • Capture individual student questions and address them appropriately, either during subsequent modules or through alternative formats post-training.
  • Gather student feedback on training modules, including instructor performance evaluations, to enhance course relevance and effectiveness.
  • Provide soil scientist support during virtual and in-person field components.

Number of Work Hours (estimate):

  • Approximately 16 x 1-hour meetings via virtual/in-person/phone.
  • Course Design/Preparation: approximately 60-100 hours.
  • Virtual Training: 2 days (8 hours per day).
  • In-Person Field Training: 5 days (8 hours per day).

III. PLACE OF PERFORMANCE
All activities and deliverables will take place at your place of business, our partner's National Training Center (Phoenix, AZ), or other approved locations determined by our partner's National Training Center course coordinator.

IV. TRAVEL
We will arrange and cover all travel costs, including airline reservations and lodging accommodations.

VI. DELIVERABLES

  • Active participation in the design, delivery, and completion of Meadows Restoration including Zoom sessions, National Training Center meetings, and preparation of training documents.
  • Lesson plans, PowerPoint presentations, and assessment exercises due by August 30, 2024.
  • Comprehensive outlines and supporting documents for classroom and field notebooks due by August 30, 2024.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field; advanced degree preferred.
  • Extensive experience in course design, development, and delivery, particularly in environmental science or related disciplines.
  • Strong project management skills, with the ability to coordinate multiple stakeholders and meet deadlines effectively.
  • Excellent communication and presentation abilities, both in virtual and in-person settings.
  • Soil scientist expertise preferred.

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $30.00 - $45.00 per hour

Expected hours: No less than 15 per week
