Position Overview:
Observes and monitors cardiac monitors and interprets dysrhythmias and alarms. Transcribes physician orders and Facilitates all inter- and intra-departmental communications, acts as unit receptionist.
Job Description:
Unit Secretary
- Facilitates communication flow among nursing staff, doctors, patients, relatives, visitors, and other departments in a caring and courteous manner and relays information in an appropriate manner. Answers all telephone calls and call lights promptly. Transcribes physicians' orders onto Kardex and MAR into computer. Completes all necessary requisitions and computer transactions. Prepares, maintains, and ensures proper disposition of patient charts.
Monitor Technician
- Observes the central station cardiac monitors for dysrhythmias.
- Interprets all patient rhythms and adjusts appropriate alarms.
- Notifies nurses of rhythm changes.
- Maintains inventory standards for forms, central processing and stationery supplies on the Unit.
Coordinates housekeeping activities.
- By maintaining high standards of excellence, helps the Medical Center fulfill its mission by providing compassionate care and respecting the dignity of others. Applies the principles of "continuous quality improvement” which includes working cooperatively with colleagues and projecting a service orientation toward all.
EDUCATION
- Equivalent experience will be accepted in lieu of the required degree or diploma.
- HS Diploma and one-year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
CERTIFICATION & LICENSURE
SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
- Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
- Ability to speak effectively before customers or employees of organization.
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
- Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent, and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
- Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

Pay Range is $31.46 to $37.59 / hour
The salary range for this role may vary above or below the posted range as determined by location. This range has not been adjusted for any specific geographic differential applicable by area where the position may be filled.
