***This position is a Part Time onsite role, and candidates must be able to work on-site at Baker Hospital in Naples, FL ***

The Opportunity:

The HIM (Health Information Management) Specialist primary job duty is to assist with the analysis/reanalysis of records, ensuring Medical Staff Rules and Regulations are followed. Job will be performed at centralized scanning department but will require travel to acute hospitals to perform data capture duties. Will include weekday, weekend and holiday schedule requirements.

Essential Functions:

  • Completes functions of Data Capture to include prep, scan and index of all records accurately and timely.
  • Complete floor scanning via mobile computer cart for 18 units
  • Completes analysis/reanalysis of all records accurately and timely
  • Performs or assists in the performance of all tasks related to the physician suspension process
  • Assigns signature deficiencies to Med Images reports
  • Works the wait for OP Note queue in HPF and others are requested, to help prevent delays in billing/coding.
  • Submits reports to the outside transcription service provider which contain physician corrections, ensuring they are returned timely.
  • Performs chart pick-up and reconciles records retrieved against the discharged lists, ensuring any missing records has timely follow-up/resolution.
  • Assists in monitoring the quality of work in the document imaging system.
  • Reviews the surgery schedule each day, ensuring reports that are available are delivered timely to the pre-op area.
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of CMS, and Joint Commission regulations preferred
  • EMR experience preferred
  • Healthcare Revenue Cycle experience preferred (Acute care facility HIM experience)
