The candidate will support a multidisciplinary team in a clinic/laboratory focused setting. S/he will be responsible for performing a variety of clerical and support tasks for the practice including answering incoming calls, scheduling, registration, and billing responsibilities. S/he should be comfortable using an Electronic Medical Record so that they can efficiently schedule and register patients. This candidate should be passionate about providing patient-centered care that will also assist in improving overall patient care.
ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Works closely with the Electronic Medical Record to schedule and register new patients by collecting demographic, insurance, and billing information
- Answers phone calls from patients and parents and answers a variety of scheduling questions
- Provides information to clinic callers and transfers calls as needed to different practice staff
- Performs day – to – day administrative functions and general office duties, including but not limited to, copying, filing, faxing, and data entry
- Maintains patient waiting areas, office files, and front desk areas in an organized manner
- Manages patient documents and communicates patient needs to their providers
- Engages in various educational and professional development trainings to enhance their ability to provide effective, efficient, and quality care
- Efficiently manage patient check-in and check-out processes, ensuring accurate documentation and a positive patient experience.
- Thoroughly verify patient insurance information and coverage to facilitate accurate billing and payment processing
- Create, manage, and reschedule patient appointments within the Electronic Medical Record (EMR) system
- Manage the collection of patient copays and balances, providing options for payment plans, and contributing to the financial success and stability of the healthcare facility.
- Performs other duties as assigned at the manager’s discretion.
REQUIREMENTS:
- A graduate of high school
- Must have excellent customer service and interpersonal communication skills as well as cultural sensitivity
- Advanced phone skills so that s/he can effectively relate via phone and serve the needs of the practice’s patients
- Has experience with EHR (electronic health records) and an overall comfortability with computers and health related software
- Has experience with and is comfortable working on a team
- Has a minimum 2 of years of administrative or clerical experience preferably in a clinical setting
- Ability to learn with an openness and curiosity and willingness to adapt to our innovative approach to improving health outcomes.
- Exceptional written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills.
- Ability to effectively communicate with employees, patients and other individuals in a professional and courteous manner.
- Skilled in Microsoft Office Suite products including Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Outlook, plus a variety of other word-processing, spreadsheet, database, e-mail and presentation software.
- Spoken and written fluency in English
