Job Description

Helena College University of Montana, a comprehensive two-year college focused on student success, seeks qualified applicants for a Practice and Theory III Instructor for the Massage Therapy Certificate Program.

Under the supervision of the Director of the Massage Therapy Program, this part-time position will teach Practice and Theory III to Massage Therapy Students from March 3 to March 25 who are preparing to test for their license.

Duties & Responsibilities

o Instruct massage therapy students using specific outlined curriculum provided by Helena College.
o Assess student progress through provided evaluations, exams, and practical assessments, providing constructive feedback and grades in a timely manner.
o Record grades, attendance, and other relevant information in accordance with established deadlines.
o Adhere to curriculum expectations and outcomes.
o Advise students in a professional manner offering constructive and encouraging feedback.
o Identify and address individual learning needs and support students who may require it.
o Demonstrate and model proper techniques, safety practices, and ethical standards.
o Foster a positive learning environment that values safety.
o Manage students in the classroom and lab settings.
o Maintain a clean, organized, and safe classroom environment.
o Work collaboratively with administrative staff and other instructors.
o Attend program meetings and professional development activities.
o Comply with all applicable college, state, and federal rules and regulations.

Minimum Qualifications

o A detailed and working knowledge of neuromuscular, trigger point, cupping, deep tissue, myofascial, proprioceptive, and sports massage techniques.
o 2-3 years’ experience in the field of your license with current and valid professional liability insurance.
o Technologically proficient and the ability to learn new programs.
o Maintain a high level of professionalism, hygiene, and ethical practices.
o Prior teaching experience or training is preferred but not required.
o Strong knowledge of massage therapy principles, practices, and industry standards as well as areas of knowledge specific to the class being taught.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent (GED)
  • Sound understanding of federal and state massage therapy laws, rules, regulations, policies and procedures related to licensing.
  • Ability to perform the duties of an instructor with minimal supervision. Must display characteristics of integrity, honesty, accuracy and pride in quality of work, i.e. follow and enforce rules and requirements, dependable, reliable; forth coming of errors or mistakes; work is correct with minimal errors; work is neat and legible, etc..

$30.00 per hour
