Direct Support Professionals (DSP) at NIPD-NJ work closely with people with Intellectual and/or Developmental Disabilities (I/DD) and empower them to lead self-directed and fulfilling lives. All job-specific knowledge, strategies, and skills are provided as paid training through YAI Knowledge.

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or GED required; some college is a plus.
  • Valid Driver's License with no more than 5 points required. No probationary license will be accepted.
  • Prior experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities preferred.
  • Fluent English reading, writing, speaking, computer skills necessary to record observations and monitor development.
  • Willingness to assist people in achieving their greatest level of independent functioning in the areas of personal grooming and hygiene, budgeting, communication, and socialization.
  • Ability to participate in 2 weekdays of NJS Mandated DDD initial trainings during normal business hours upon hire.
  • NJS Drug testing is required.
  • Tuberculosis testing is required.
