This position is part of the Lyndon Economic opportunity AmeriCorps Program (LEAP). LEAP is a national service program that places AmeriCorps members with non-profit organizations throughout the Northeast Kingdom (NEK) of Vermont to support those organizations in building capacity and expanding their services that many communities rely on. LEAP members deliver direct service to local youth in the form of PreK-12 STEAM educational programming. LEAP supports members in their path to educational and career attainment through direct service, on-going trainings, and professional development opportunities offered during the service year. VFFC increases access and availability of locally produced food in the Rutland Region through education, expanding markets and market access, aggregation, and distribution of locally produced and value added agricultural products. Our goals for the Americorps position are to strengthen our community involvement and distribution of Farmacy, food as medicine shares in the community, provide greater food education, and improve access to our Online Market platforms.
Member Duties : The Local Food Center Coordinator needs to have good people skills or be open to interacting with individuals of all different backgrounds, abilities, and beliefs. Other skills include being able bodied enough to lift 50 pounds, good driving skills with a focus on safety, good with directions, feedback and problem solving. The member must be open to learning how a local food hub operates and about food safety, social determinants of health related to food insecurity, good culinary and kitchen skills for recipe making, on-the-fly learning, and having fun! This position came be completed in a Half or Quarter Time slot. Essential Functions include: - Responsibly drive and maneuver VFFC refrigerated delivery van for Farmacy and bulk distributions. - Excellent interpersonal and communication skills - Ability to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment - Computer skills required including excel and powerpoint - Personal transportation to the VFFC in Rutland
