Job Description

Northern Nevada State Veterans Home is seeking a Part Time Laundry Assistant!

Summary/Objective: Provide laundry services for the facility and residents to include collecting, sorting,
stacking and distributing.

Essential Functions
Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential
functions.
• Laundry:
o Perform all functions of linen services to include collection, sorting, washing and drying of linen.
Count, sort and distribute daily clean linen. Wash personal clothing of residents who request this
service. Handle linen services for other facility departments as required. Maintain the laundry
room in a clean and orderly manner.
o Use Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) while handling linen and chemicals.
• Customer Service:
o Provide compassionate resident care services.
o Establish and maintain positive interactions with internal and external customers, including
co-workers and direct reports.
o Promptly respond to call lights.
• Resident’s Rights:
o Knows Resident Rights. Helps the residents/residents exercise and/or protect their rights.
o Reports resident/resident complaints to management.
o Maintains confidentiality of resident/resident information.
o Understand, comply with and promote all rules and regulations regarding residents’ rights.
o Support resident autonomy and choice.
• HIPAA:
o Follows and adheres to Facility’s policies and procedures implementing HIPAA requirements for
the privacy and security of protected health information.
o Uses and/or discloses only minimum amount of Protected Health Information necessary to
complete assigned tasks.
o Reports all suspected violation of company’s HIPAA policies or procedures to Facility Privacy
Designee.
  • Continuing Education:
o Participate in facility/department in-services and quality improvement activities.
o Attend continuing education programs.
o Attend facility/department/staff meetings as required.
  • Safety:
o Knows and follows all Company policies, regulations and requirements.
o Practice and promote adherence to institutional safety codes.
o Follows facility dress and hygiene policies.
o Demonstrates proper use of equipment. Reports equipment needs or repairs.
o Follows facility smoking policies.
o Reports and documents any incidents or accidents of residents, staff or visitors to the appropriate
facility personnel.
o Reports all hazardous conditions/equipment to Supervisor.
o Performs duties, which may include transportation of residents, as assigned in Facility Disaster
Plan.
o Uses required protective equipment.
o Follows infection control standards, policies and procedures.

Other Responsibilities
  • Must adhere to Code of Conduct and Business Ethics policy, including documentation and reporting
responsibilities.

  • Ability to understand and apply training from in-service education and ability to instruct personnel during
training education and staff meetings.
  • This position regularly requires long hours and frequent weekend work.
  • This is a position in a health care facility open 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. Rotating shifts as well as
holiday and working during inclement weather may be required.
Work Environment
This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as
computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.
Must be able to work in a non-regulated temperature environment
