Position Summary:

The Night Janitor is responsible for maintaining the cleanliness of schools, school offices, and all areas of buildings following assignment and directions of supervisor.

Scheduled Hours:

Typical work hours will be Monday through Friday (3:00 pm to 8:00 pm or 4:00 pm to 9:00 pm).

Position Duties:

• Service, clean, and supply restrooms (refill soap dispensers, paper towels, and toilet paper).
• Clean and disinfect all toilets, urinals, sinks, and floors.
• Clean classrooms including cleaning fixtures, desks, sinks, chairs, door handles, light switches, and spots and stains on door frames and walls.
• Gather and empty trash throughout the school.
• Clean windows, glass partitions, mirrors while using soapy water or other cleaners with sponges or squeegees.
• Mop floors and classrooms in halls.
• Clean building floors by sweeping, mopping, scrubbing, or vacuuming.
• Report to supervisor of stained areas needing special attention.
• Follow procedures for the use of chemical and power equipment to prevent damage to floors and fixtures.
• Mix water and detergents in containers to prepare cleaning solutions according to specifications.
• Notify supervisor concerning the need for major repairs or additions to the building.
• Notify supervisor of supplies or equipment needed for cleaning and maintenance duties.
• Perform other duties as deemed appropriate and as assigned by Night Janitor Supervisor.

Education and Experience:

High School Diploma or G.E.D. (preferred)

One year working experience as a janitor (preferred)

Required Skills/Abilities:

• Knowledge of cleaning chemicals and supplies.
• Ability to work independently and in a team.
• Strong time management skills.
• Follow written and verbal instructions.

Physical Requirements:

• Required to obtain the assistance of another employee when attempting to lift or carry objects more than 25 lbs.
• Frequently standing and walking.
• Ability to bend, lift, twist, and climb.
• Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
