Job Description

Description:

The Instructor teaches private lessons, beginning through advanced, to students elementary school age through adult.

Schedule

30-minute private lessons are scheduled throughout the week during afternoon and evening hours and run year-round. Hours vary and are set before each session.

Responsibilities

  • Teach in a manner that promotes artistic growth from participants
  • Stay current on teaching styles and music trends to implement in the lessons
  • Work with supervisor to communicate cancelations & scheduling
  • Communicate openly and professionally with parents to coordinate lesson cancelations/scheduling
  • Record and submit attendance records weekly to the Encore Coordinator
  • Maintain a clean and organized area to work with others using the space
  • Attend mandatory meetings/trainings
  • Coordinate and implement final performances & showcases with the Arts Education Director
Requirements:
  • 1-2 years prior teaching experience, preferably teaching elementary-high school students
  • Ability to prepare curriculum for subject matter
  • Flexibility, creativity and ability to meet student needs in terms of goals, levels, and areas of interest
  • Able to use basic computer technology such as email and time clock
  • Knowledge of Jewish culture, values and traditions or willingness to learn
  • Excellent verbal communication skills
  • Able to build positive relationships with a diverse group of students

Physical Requirements

  • Able to demonstrate piano & vocal techniques/scales
  • Able to move some supplies as needed
