Sun-Thurs position from either 4:15 or 5:15 (depending on the clients working situation) - 10:15pm. Week 1 is 28 hrs.; Week 2 is 29 hours and involves picking client up from work on Weds and Thurs

About the position:

We are searching for a passionate individual to mentor, engage with, and challenge our able-bodied and active 27-year-old male client as he brings his already successful life to further independence and stronger community involvement. Support is needed due to a brain-based disability and history of trauma.

Our client is one really cool guy who enjoys living life to the fullest. He and his cat live in Uptown on the 4th floor of a beautiful condo with no elevator. He’s a smart man who enjoys math and science and will attend school again this fall to continue his education in robotics. Others describe him as gregarious, curious, hardworking, funny, and industrious – we couldn’t agree more!

It is your unique contributions, ideas, and high emotional maturity/intelligence that will continue to drive our client’s success. He has a desire to expand his participation in the community as a whole as well as become more integrated into the LGBTQ community. An idea of interests include theatre, festivals, PRIDE, drag shows, science museums, and choirs. Part of your role will include collaboratively planning and joining in these types of activities. He continues to focus on his overall health through exercise and healthy cooking/eating and enjoys activities such as biking, walking, kayaking, skiing, going to the gym and gourmet cooking. It is essential that you encourage, plan, and participate in these activities as well. Being active and outside the home is essential.

You will provide one-to-one personal support, companionship, and supervision to empower our client to fully integrate into the community and gain full independence at home. Daily activities may include transportation in your vehicle from his home to school/medical appointments/activities/etc., administering medication, collaboratively planning and scheduling activities, attending and engaging in his social activities, organizing and cleaning his apartment, encouraging and participating in exercise, meal planning and grocery shopping, etc. Officially, you will help to support his independent living and social skill development, health maintenance, personal care, and behavioral development in accordance with his Community Support Plan.


Minimum Knowledge and Skills required: The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or abilities required to perform the job.

This position requires you to possess an optimistic personality, a knack for organization, and the ability to be encouraging yet firm. You must desire to fully engage with this vibrant man as he strives to live an independent and integrated life.

Education and Experience: High school diploma or equivalent required. College experience is beneficial. Knowledge, understanding, and/or experience with disability and/or autism is welcomed.

Emotional Maturity: Must be LGBTQ-friendly, patient, intellectually curious, able and willing to set positive limits.

Individual must be responsible and dependable.

Ideal candidate will be energetic, and enthusiastic to go with the client on social outings.

Certificates, Licenses, and Registrations Required: Valid driver’s license in good standing. Car registration and vehicle insurance as candidate will be providing transportation for individual receiving services.
