Hall Monitor

Reports To

Secondary Building Principal

Supervises

Job Purpose and Focus

Responsible for providing internal supervision and safety for all students and staff.

Essential Qualifications and Requirements

▪ High school diploma or equivalent

▪ Experience working with secondary school students

▪ Knowledge of police and security techniques

▪ Ability to communicate effectively with students, staff, administration, and parents

▪ Ability to take direction and plan actions

▪ Ability to supervise students in structured and unstructured situations

▪ Possession of excellent decision-making and problem-solving skills

▪ Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI) Certification

▪ First Aid and Cardio-pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) training

▪ Automated External Defibrillation (AED) training

▪ Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing

▪ Knowledge of and adherence to all district requirements and Board of Education policies

▪ Ability to meet deadlines

Essential Functions and Representative Duties

▪ Supervise hallways and restrooms

▪ Supervise cafeteria and commons areas before and after school and during lunch periods

▪ Make recommendations regarding security issues

▪ Participate in providing security for all occupants of school buildings and grounds

▪ Prevent unauthorized visitors from entering school buildings and/or loitering on school grounds

▪ Inform counselors, parents, teachers, and school administrators of student behavior problems

▪ Carry out investigations at the direction of the administration

▪ Assist the administration with student searches, as requested

▪ Assist with tardiness and attendance problems

▪ Escort students to and from offices as needed

▪ Control crowds as necessary

▪ Assist special needs students during emergency drills

▪ Maintain liaison with police, fire, and other municipal departments to unsure maximum use of their services

▪ Prepare reports and assist in special assignments as directed

▪ Perform other duties as assigned

Terms of Employment

Wages and benefits as outlined in the Collective Bargaining Agreement with the Board of Education.

Work Environment

School environment employee must be physically able to walk significant distances throughout the work day.

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: From $15.00 per hour

Expected hours: 30 per week
