Position Description

Advertised Job Summary
The designer serves as a staff graphic designer for the Integrated Communications team within the Office of Communications and Marketing at the University of South Carolina. The designer provides visual guidance and design expertise to the units primarily served by our public relations activities. The designer will create original concepts and designs that support the strategic needs of the university and appeal to internal and external audiences while ensuring quality, consistency and excellence within the university brand platform.

The designer will create marketing materials for a range of audiences that builds awareness of, drives engagement with and enhances the reputation of the university and its commitment to academic and research excellence. The designer demonstrates expertise in visual design, illustration, presentations, art direction, project management and production knowledge to deliver compelling, creative solutions for digital and print communications.

The designer works independently and with a dynamic team of creative professionals throughout the Office of Communications and Marketing on projects that are deemed shared priorities of administrative units and the university.

Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in a related field, or high school diploma and 4 years related experience.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
Must possess proficient knowledge of digital and print communication methods, design principles and printing industry terminology. Must be able to multitask and prioritize projects. Must have excellent communication skills and be able to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others in the University community. Experience with all the Microsoft applications, such as Excel, Word and PowerPoint and demonstrated proficiency with the Adobe Creative Suite of tools such as InDesign, Photoshop and Illustrator are required.
