Job Description

The University of Saint Mary is a Roman Catholic, liberal arts university located in Leavenworth, Kansas, just 25 minutes away from Kansas City. POSITION SUMMARY:

This position is responsible for assisting the manager in performing analysis of the business operations of the Spirit Shop. In addition it requires participation in the daily business operations of the USM Spirit Shop including cashiering, customer service and various clerical and sales duties.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Perform profitability analysis of merchandise purchased for the store
  • Develop marketing plans and strategies to increase campus sales
  • Assist with strategic analysis of store functions and strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats
  • Analyze success of on-line store and develop strategy for future growth.
  • Learn fundamentals of bar-coding merchandise and help to maintain accuracy on remote server
  • Update inventory as new merchandise comes into the store.
  • Prepare and participate in annual inventory.


ADDITIONAL DUTIES:

  • Perform cashier duties, and provide customer service to all who enter the Spirit Shop.
  • Receive all merchandise, unpack, price and display throughout store.
  • Meet with college apparel and gift representatives. Assist in choosing appropriate colors, artwork, and apparel sizes.
  • Sell merchandise at selected sports competitions
  • Performs additional job related duties as assigned.


REQUIREMENTS:

  • Prefer retail experience.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word & Excel.
  • Effective customer service, communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
  • This position will require occasional work for special events (e.g., graduation, alumni reunion, orientation, homecoming).
    Bachelor’s degree and enrolled in a graduate program at the University of Saint Mary
