Job Description

The primary function of the Graduate Assistant for LEAD Program is to assist the Director of Student Engagement and Wellness with Greek life and campus honor society programs. This GA must be able to take initiative and be comfortable with decision-making responsibilities, and be detail orientated.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES

Major responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

CAMPUS ENGAGEMENT

1. Work alongside the Director of Student Engagement and Wellness on fall and spring Greek recruitment

2. Work alongside the Director of Student Engagement and Wellness with advising and managing Order of Omega and Omicron Delta Kappa honors societies.

3. Attend Panhellenic and IFC meetings as needed

4. Attend national Greek conferences, workshops, and trainings as needed

5. Maintain Greek G.P.A. reports and other data entry functions for the WWU Greek community throughout the academic year

Other duties will be assigned and are subject to change based on needs of the Office of Student Life and GA applicant skills and will be discussed and agreed on by all parties.

Position Requirements:

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

  • Bachelor’s Degree.

Concurrent enrollment in a graduate program at William Woods University or a nearby university.
Understanding of student involvement on a small college residential campus.


Essential Job PREFERENCES:

  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other staff members, faculty, students and parents.
  • Ability to work without constant supervision.
  • Genuine interest to work with college students.
  • Ability to exercise basic human relations skills in directing and motivating student leaders and dealing with varied constituencies on and off campus.
  • Basic computer skills and ability to learn software programs.

Typical Physical Demands:

  • Ability to climb several flights of stairs several times each day.
  • Ability to sit, crouch, kneel, bend, or stand for long periods.
  • Ability to read, write, and speak English fluently.
  • Ability to hear.
  • Ability to use a computer keyboard.
  • Effective mobility skills required to move about freely and quickly in office and on campus.
  • Must possess a driver’s license and be able to adhere to the William Woods University vehicle policy.

Work Schedule:

This is a minimum 25 hour/week position with night and weekend hours as required. If more than 25 hours is required during particular times, hours must be “flexed”, as necessary, to ensure student does not work more than the 25 hour requirement.

COMPENSATION:

  • This is a 10-month position to last 2 years; however, arrangements may be made to remain over breaks if housing is included. Housing assignments may change during the summer months. Checking in and checking out of housing should be arranged with the Office of Student Life.
  • Tuition remission for graduate classes at William Woods University for approximately 6 credit hours each semester (Fall, Spring and Summer).
  • Graduate Assistant may NOT hold a full-time job. Other part-time employment in or outside the university must receive prior approval from the Director of Engagement and Wellness.
  • Professional development funds may be available to the amount of $1,200.

Room and board (reported to IRS) to include a furnished room and access to cable, Ethernet and Wi-Fi. Meals only offered when the dining hall is open for traditional students.
