As a Fresh Produce Clerk at Quality Foods, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the availability, quality, and presentation of fresh produce to our valued customers. Your responsibilities will encompass various tasks related to maintaining a clean, organized, and well-stocked produce section while providing exceptional customer service.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Product Handling:

• Receive, inspect, and store incoming produce shipments.
• Sort and stock produce items on the sales floor in an attractive and organized manner.
• Rotate and cull produce to remove any damaged or expired items to maintain freshness.
• Package and label produce items as needed, including weighing and pricing.

2. Customer Service:

• Greet and assist customers with a friendly and helpful demeanor.
• Provide information about produce items, including their origin, use, and selection.
• Answer customer inquiries, including pricing, availability, and product quality.
• Offer assistance in finding specific produce items or making recommendations.

3. Merchandising:

• Create visually appealing displays to showcase fresh produce.
• Ensure that produce sections are clean, organized, and well-maintained.
• Monitor inventory levels and communicate replenishment needs to the supervisor or manager.
• Update pricing and promotional signs as required.

4. Quality Control:

• Conduct daily freshness checks to remove any damaged, spoiled, or expired items.
• Follow food safety and sanitation guidelines to maintain a clean and safe work environment.
• Keep track of product expiry dates and perform necessary markdowns or removals.
• Report any issues with product quality or safety to the management.

5. Team Collaboration:

• Work closely with fellow Produce Clerks and other store departments to ensure smooth operations.
• Communicate effectively with colleagues and management to address any concerns or issues.

Qualifications:

• Previous experience in a grocery store or produce department is a plus.
• Knowledge of different types of produce, their storage, and handling requirements.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain a clean and organized workspace.
• Excellent customer service and communication skills.
• Ability to lift and carry heavy items (up to 50 pounds) and stand for extended periods.
• Flexibility to work in shifts, including weekends and holidays.

Experience preferred but not required.
