THE POSITION

DESCRIPTION OF WORK

In this position, you will perform a variety of food service, food preparation, and sanitation tasks in the dietary operation at the home. Duties include cleaning and sanitizing equipment and kitchen items such as utensils, dishes, pots, pans, and work surfaces; cleaning and sanitizing tables and floors in the kitchen and dining areas; preparing and serving simple food and drink items; measuring portions, preparing, and transporting trays, carts and nourishment; and using equipment such as mixers, dicers, slicers, knives, grinders. You will also assist with food and table preparation as well as decorating for special holiday functions.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:


  • Part time employment, 20 hours per week
  • Work hours are to be determined. Your schedule will include rotating shifts and days off, with 30-minute lunch.
    • 6:00 AM – 2:30 PM
    • 12:00 PM - 8:30 PM
    • 4:30 PM - 8:30 PM
  • Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS
Preferred Qualifications (not required):

  • Previous food service worker experience
  • Experience cleaning, washing, peeling, slicing, and dicing food items; using kitchen equipment such as VCM/food processor/tabletop chopper/garbage disposal; chopping, dicing, and slicing meats, poultry, fish, and cheeses; preparing sandwiches, assembling salads, and serving portions including desserts; preparing and serving hot and cold beverages; cleaning and sanitizing equipment, utensils, dishes, pots, pans, and work surfaces, selective menu, food cart set-up, reading meal/tray or tags, tray assembly/working on a tray line, unloading food delivery trucks; and transporting food supplies to and from freezers, refrigerators and storeroom
  • Experience working in areas such as assisted living/long-term care facilities, interacting with patients/residents/customers while serving food or cleaning in a dining room

Additional Requirements:
  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.

Legal Requirements:
  • A conditional offer of employment will require a medical examination.
  • This position falls under the provisions of the Older Adult Protective Services Act.
    • Under the Act, a conditional offer of employment will require submission and approval of satisfactory criminal history reports, including but not limited to, PA State Police and FBI clearance.
