Job Description: Fleet Coordinator SCOPE: Responsible for all assigned area fleet operations, overseeing the proper repair, maintenance and care of all company vehicles and equipment.
ACCOUNTABILITY: The Fleet Coordinator reports directly to the Director of Fleet who will perform periodic performance reviews of the Fleet Coordinator.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITES AND DUTIES: - Oversee all fleet personnel and activities in the assigned area, ensuring all work is done properly, efficiently, and to company standards; promote teamwork; ensure proper work conditions are maintained; train employees as needed.
- Set priorities and schedule the work to be done; coordinate with the Operations Department all work to be done.
- Maintain accurate automated and paper files of maintenance and repair records. This also includes all DOT paperwork.
- Ensure that all company safety regulations and policies are always followed; notify the Fleet Director or Safety Director immediately of any potential or current safety problems.
- Ensure that all company environmental regulations and policies are followed; notify the Director of Fleet or Environmental Manager immediately of any potential or current environmental problems.
- Answer the telephone and respond appropriately to inquiries.
- Interact daily with outside vendors, service personnel, and parts distributors.
- Perform audits for preventive maintenance inspection.
- Responsible for administering performance reviews for direct reports.
- Possess a level of determination to successfully complete tasks, projects and career responsibilities.
- Take the initiative to start new tasks or projects or operate out of their area of influence.
- Promote and maintain a clean Work Environment.
Job Requirements: REQUIREMENTS: - Must have a high school education or equivalent, with equivalent reading and writing capabilities and a minimum of 5 years of experience as a mechanic on heavy trucks and equipment.
- Must have a thorough knowledge of the components and mechanics of trucks, tractor-trailers, pickups, cars, heavy equipment, mounted equipment such as mixers and hydraulic systems, and shop equipment.
Proficient in using Davie4 Diagnostic computer software.
- Prior managerial or supervisory experience is strongly desired.
- Must have good communication, reading, and writing skills.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: - Must be able to occasionally push, hold, and/or lift equipment parts to assist mechanics in repair work.
- Must be able to occasionally climb in/around vehicles to determine problem areas.
- Must be able to operate buttons, levers, computer keyboards, and other controls on equipment and computers.
- Must be able and willing to work up to 65 hours per week and on Saturdays when necessary.
- Occasionally required to lift up to 50 pounds.
- Must have a good driving record and pass a DOT physical if required to drive company vehicles.
