Education and Work Experience: High School diploma. Must have at least 6 months’ office experience. Good written and verbal communication skills. Must work well with minimum supervision. Must be able to lift and move a minimum of 15 pounds.

Scope of Position:

Under the supervision of the DSP & Service Extension Director, participate in helping ensure clients receive assistance through The Salvation Army while protecting their confidentiality. Must also meet multiple deadlines as well as keep work areas in orderly, clean, and safe conditions as this area represents The Salvation Army.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:

  • Maintain Client confidentiality.
  • Excellent telephone skills
  • Maintain professionalism.
  • Ability to meet deadlines.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Preform duties as assigned such as:

  • Answer phones and take detailed messages.
  • Make food boxes.
  • Keep Food Bank clean and orderly.
  • Assist in making holiday Food and Toy boxes.
  • Assist in meeting deadlines for monthly reports.
  • Assist in Holiday distribution.
  • Practice client confidentiality.
  • Interview clients to ensure they meet set guidelines.
  • Keep current files on all food bank/ social service clients.
  • Track in kind donations.
  • Ability to lift and move a minimum of 15 pounds.
  • Work with volunteers and community service workers to ensure efficient operations.

This position requires job related lifting loading and unloading. On occasions lifting may exceed 15 pounds and should be attempted safely using appropriate equipment and in accord with recommended procedure.

Walk, bend, stoop, sit, stand for short/long periods of time, kneel, twist body, push, pull, lift and carry up to 15 pounds for short distances, have a sense of touch, reach, grasp with hands and fingers, climb stairs, hear, identify colors, have close vision, have finger dexterity, speak and read, also will include wearing plastic or rubber gloves, working with household cleaners, exposure to inside and outside temperate variations, exposure to dust and molds, and may require operation of company owned vehicles.

Working Conditions:

Regular and punctual attendance.

This position requires that you work in an environment with frequent interruptions, multiple deadlines, and competing priorities. While in this position you may encounter situations involving frustration, antagonism, anxiety, and deadlines. The work involves a high degree of independence.
