Summary

We are looking for a dynamic DJ and Music Production Specialist to join our Herndon location on a part-time basis. In this exciting role, you’ll deliver engaging lessons that inspire creativity and foster a love for music in students through private, semi-private, and group sessions.

Responsibilities

• Deliver Engaging Instruction: Teach students mixing, scratching, and music production using our proprietary curriculum and methodology.
• Adapt to Diverse Styles: Provide music classes for students interested in hip-hop, pop, rock, house, and more.
• Prepare Students for Live Performance: Coach DJ students to enhance their performance skills for live events.
• DJ at School and Community Events: Perform as a DJ at various school and community events to showcase the school and promote engagement.
• Manage Classroom Dynamics: Balance individual attention with group needs during lessons, ensuring a positive learning experience.
• Provide Administrative Support: Assist with equipment setup and breakdown, perform basic repairs, and help maintain inventory.
• Foster a Positive Environment: Create an engaging atmosphere encouraging student participation and enthusiasm for music.

Qualifications

• Proficiency in DJ mixing, scratching, or music production concepts, with the ability to communicate effectively with students.
• Professional-level competence in DJing or using Ableton Live.
• Ability to receive and apply constructive feedback on teaching techniques.
• Strong interpersonal skills and a knack for engaging with students and parents.
• Organizational skills and practical time management abilities.
• Ability to lift up to 40 lbs and perform physical tasks as needed.

Preferred Qualifications

• A degree in music, music education, or a related field, or candidates currently enrolled in a music degree program. Experience in the subject area or professional musical performance may substitute for formal qualifications.
• Teaching certification or additional music-related credentials are a plus.
• Proficiency in English, both spoken and written.

Work Environment

• Primarily based in our music studio and lesson rooms, with opportunities to engage in various music events throughout the metro area.
