Job Description

POSITION SUMMARY:
Sanitary and safe handling of food and equipment. Carefully follows directions and serves only food specified on modifies diets, adhering to mealtime schedules, meeting deadlines, and serving food at proper temperatures.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES AND STANDARDS

Wait on tables and set up trays for patient food service following posted menus.

Set up dining room and trays with placemats, napkins, silverware, cups, condiments, etc.

Serves appropriate food on general and modified diets to residents in dining room and on trays.

Responsible for cleaning and sanitizing of tables in section, hi-boys, kitchen counters and cabinets, garbage bins, coffee carts and work areas.

Break down dirty trays from hi-boys.

Sweeps floors and cleans chairs in assigned section.

Prepares desserts, nourishments and specials.

Reports to Food Service Supervisor of any substitutions of meals and meal refusals.

Delivers nourishment to floors.

Delivers coffee to Administration.

Deliver and pick up food carts in patient care areas.

Exercise judgment and initiative in dealing with patients, making last minutes diet changes, and satisfying resident’s requests

Other duties as assigned by supervisor.

Knows responsibility & procedure in emergencies.

Assumes accountability for all data contained in the Employee Handbook.

Performs other incidental and related duties as required and assigned.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS OF THE JOB

Demonstrate ability to handle stressful situations.

Must be able to write & speak the English language in an understandable manner.

Must be able to see & hear or use prosthesis that will enable these senses to function.

Must be able to lift a minimum of 25 pounds.

Must be able to sit, stand, bend, lift, push, and move intermittently during working hours.

Wears safety non slip shoes.

Ability to relate and work with the physically and emotionally challenged resident.

QUALIFICATIONS:
Ability to read, write, speak and follow written and oral directions in English. Some previous experience as a waiter/waitress is desirable. On the job training provided.
