Job Description Duke Transplant Center Data Technician

General Description
Assists with data collection and validation for the Duke Transplant Center.
Collects and enters data for submission as per regulatory requirements.

Duties and Responsibilities
Collects, validates and enters clinical outcomes information into various systems for the Transplant quality processes and performance improvement plan and in support of regulatory requirements. This includes distribution of patient SRTR letters twice per year.

Maintain UNet access and security for Duke users.

Assists the Transplant Department and IT Team in the preparation of data for meetings and conferences including, QAPI Meetings and other department meetings.

Assists in preparation and completes meeting minutes/action items for Transplant IT Monthly Meetings, including, but not limited to, the Phoenix Advisory Meeting and the Transplant Reporting meeting.

Collaborates with the Transplant IT team to understand requirements and provide data for Transplant data requests to support research, quality and operational data requests.

Performs the quality assurance for LabDE in accordance to current recommendations.

Performs other data-related duties as required in support of the Duke Transplant Center.

Maintains knowledge of current applicable standards and regulatory requirements for Transplant Programs.

Adheres to all HIPAA and confidentiality guidelines.

Adheres to a schedule to ensure customer availability and demonstrate flexibility according to program needs.

Attends all Transplant IT Team meetings for collaboration and awareness of news and updates, as well as monthly Transplant All Staff meetings and weekly Safety Huddles.


Experience
  • Five years of experience of a progressive nature in a healthcare setting to become knowledgeable of the complex activities associated with healthcare services.
  • Associate’s degree in healthcare or business may substitute for two years of experience.
  • Bachelor’s degree in healthcare/business may substitute for four of experience.

Degrees, Licensure, and/or Certification
Associate Degree required. Post-secondary coursework in Informatics or healthcare related field preferred

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Effective interpersonal and communication skills to complete tasks and foster collaborative working relationships.
  • Strong verbal and written communication
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, including Excel, Word, PowerPoint
  • Experience working in Electronic Health Records
  • Able to organize and prioritize to meet deadlines and complete work in timely manner.
