Position Summary::
Cleans buildings and performs light building maintenance.
Criteria: Education/Experience: High school diploma (GED) with experience in custodial practices.
Certifications/Licenses: : None.
Physical Demands: : The ability to lift, carry and use heavy tools and materials. The ability to climb and perform work from a ladder. The ability to safely operate a standard equipped JEA motor vehicle. The ability to orally communicate via telephone and person to person. The ability to see and read printed material. Ambulatory.
Work Environment: Indoor office conditions.
Driving: : Must have and maintain a valid Tennessee Class “D” license.
Telephone: : Must maintain an operating telephone and furnish the number to his/her supervisor and field service dispatching.
Essential Functions: - Keeps buildings and property in clean and orderly condition.
- Performs heavy cleaning duties.
- Sweeps, mops, scrubs, and vacuums floors and attempts to remove small stains or spots.
- Cleans and sanitizes bathroom facilities and ensures they are appropriately stocked with toilet paper and paper towels.
- Cleans kitchens and all appliances.
- Gathers and empties trash.
- Dusts furniture and office equipment.
- Cleans windows, mirrors, and partitions with soap and cleaning supplies.
- Mixes cleaning solutions and chemicals in containers in preparation for cleaning, according to instructions.
- Follows procedures for the use of chemical cleaners and power floor cleaners to prevent damage to furniture and flooring.
- Cleans and polishes fixtures.
- Manages inventory of cleaning and breakroom supplies.
- Drives personal vehicle between cleaning sites.
- Notifies supervisor of damaged items or items needing repairs.
- Assists with setting up areas for meetings.
- Keeps sidewalks and lots clean around building.
- Secures buildings at end of shift.
- Performs additional duties as required.
