Companion and Personal Caregiver

Get paid for being a loyal friend and helper to an adult handicapped female. She is a lovely, personable, bright, good humored and polite person who suffered a severe traumatic brain injury years ago. Assistive equipment for mobility, communication aids and training are all provided at an in-home setting with plenty of support as you become a trusted member of our family. We are conveniently located in the Orchard Ridge Neighborhood steps from Madison Metro route 18.

Applicant must be:

• Reliable: Show up on-time with plenty of notice if you can't make it.
• Attentive: She likes conversation and play. Stay off the phone.
• Respectful: She is a dignified adult woman.
• Fun: She loves to play games, go for walks, watch movies, and cut up.

Shifts Available: Mornings: 7:00am-12pm (Tu,Wed,Fri,Sat,Sun). 6:30am-1pm (Mon,Th). We can be flexible with the times (for instance later on weekends, etc.) Evenings (Mon, Tues, Wed, Thurs): 5pm-11pm.

Basic Schedule:

• Prepare for Day (7:30am-10am): Help with dressing, morning chores and hygiene then have a cup of coffee while you both eat breakfast.
• Morning Exercise (10am-Noon): Guide morning relaxation and stretching exercises. You can do them along with her or just provide encouragement. You are welcome to stay for lunch.
• Lunch (Noon-2pm): Have lunch with her then help with afternoon bathroom break and hygiene.
• Afternoon Activity (2pm-5pm): Play cards (she loves Uno), go for a walk or an approved field trip (she likes movies). Hang around for dinner if you like. Only weekend shifts available.
• Dinner (5pm-7pm): Feed her dinner while also enjoying dinner with the family.
• Prepare for Bed (7pm-9pm): Assist with evening hygiene and getting ready for bed.
• Other household chores as needed.

All shifts include a meal assuming you like what we eat.

You must pass a background check and we strongly prefer candidates who are fully immunized. We do not require masks but provide masks, gloves, and hand sanitizer for those who want them. Our family is fully immunized.

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $17.33 - $22.48 per hour

Expected hours: 15 – 25 per week
