Job Description
Comprehensive Community Support Specialists, often referred to as Community Support Associates, or CSA’s provide activities necessary to allow clients to live with the maximum independence in the community. Our Community Support Associates are trained to use non-clinical therapeutic techniques for implementing these activities which include at least one or more of the following: skills training, cueing, or supervision as identified in the client’s individualized treatment plan; medication adherence and recognizing symptoms and side effects; therapeutic behavioral intervention, support, and skills training; assistance in accessing and utilizing community resources; emotional skills regulations; crisis coping skills; and developing and enhancing interpersonal skills. These services are provided to clients with severe emotional disabilities (SED) or severe mental illness (SMI). This position provides face-to-face services in the community, home, occasionally the office setting and online through telehealth so long as the state of Kentucky allows telehealth as a method of service delivery for comprehensive community support services. Services will be provided primarily in Warren and Barren counties, however, may be provided in other areas of the Barren River Region. Transportation to clients is a requirement of the position.
Description
Duties and Responsibilities:
Must attend DBHDID approved CSA training within the first 6 months of employment unless obtained prior to hire and have the certificate as proof of completion.
Attend training annually that provides a certificate of a minimum of 6 CEUs specific to Principles of recovery and resilience; Principles of psychiatric rehabilitation; Effective listening and communication skills; Diagnosis and medication management of mental health disorders or co-occurring disorders; and Crisis coping skills
Attend required supervision a minimum of 1 time every 2 weeks. Supervision must take place in person, be at least 30 minutes in length, and be documented in writing.
Complete prior authorization requests to ensure the comprehensive community support service is billable if required by the state of Kentucky.
Conducts services primarily in the home and community, however, services may be delivered in the office and school at times as well as through telehealth so long as telehealth is an allowable method of service delivery in the state of Kentucky.
Provides services and interventions that are outlined in the clients individualized plan of care.
Assists in development of client service care plans that are signed by the provider, the client, the client’s guardian if applicable, the therapist and any other applicable members of the treatment team.
Participates in agency continuing quality improvement (CQI) activities as necessary.
Perform ongoing services ethically and follow all company policies and procedures.
Be reliable and arrive timely for your appointments and workday.
Present yourself professionally in the office, community and online.
Establish and maintain rapport with clients, staff and colleagues.
Complete daily time sheet to reflect contacts provided.
Communicate and collaborate with the client’s treatment team frequently.
Maintain contact with other team members for solid client care. *Be mindful to always have a Release of Information on file to comply with confidentiality and HIPAA law. Maintain confidentiality at all times.
Attend all required staff or supervision meetings.
Follow all laws and regulations for licensure and licensure renewal if applicable.
Complete required documentation of all client sessions within 48 hours, with best-practice being 24-hours if you’re not engaging in collaborative documentation practices with your clients.
Communicate consistently with the Alliance team and reply timely to email, Google Chat, or other messages.
Attend quarterly team meetings to update the service care plan and discuss progress and goals for the following quarter.
Complete additional required annual training(s) such as HIPAA and Medicaid Fraud, Waste and Abuse.

May be asked to assist in writing blog copy, creating psychoeducational materials, worksheets for clients, and other creative-type copy assignments.
May be asked to assist in participating in community events that Alliance participates in or hosts to include events such as back to school bashes, holiday food/toy drives, etc.
Attend company wide staff meetings.
Maintain insurance on your vehicle, as transportation to clients will be necessary.
Mileage is not a reimbursed employment expense.
Additional items may be assigned/expected.
Documentation Requirements:
All notes must be documented within 48-hours, with 24-hours being best practice. Notes must reflect the specific intervention worked on from the treatment plan along with the client response to the intervention.
Qualifications:
Be 18 years of age or older Have a high school diploma or a general equivalency diploma (GED)
Have (1) year of full-time experience working with individuals who receive services for treatment of a Mental Health Disorder or Co-Occurring Disorder.
Have a valid driver's license and proof of current automobile insurance.
Have a clean driving record.
Be organized, detail oriented and able to manage multiple responsibilities.
Be a team player who is ready to help. Recognizing that we can all learn from each other is important; being humble goes a long way!
Be emotionally intelligent, eager to thrive, succeed, and learn.
Be able to work independently, as well as within a team setting; flexibility with independence is a key part of success as a community support associate.
Have strong written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills.

Have a desire to be a part of the Alliance team for the foreseeable future.
