COMMUNITY OUTREACH COORDINATOR

The Charles County Department of Social Services (CCDSS) is hiring for a Part-Time (PT) 25 hours Contingent position. The contingent position is employed through the Tri-County Council of the Lower Eastern Shore and work within the local Department of Social Services in La Plata, Maryland.

NATURE OF WORK

The Community Outreach Coordinator oversees the planning and implementation of outreach strategies within and external to CCDSS in accordance with the agency mission and vision.

The incumbent is primarily responsible for increasing CCDSS’ visibility in the community by cultivating relationships with community partners, local law enforcement, the faith-based community, businesses, internal and external consumers, and other relevant organizations.

The purpose will be to provide CCDSS support and education to the community by operating substations in rural areas of the county, educate the constitutes about the programs offered by CCDSS. Provide supplies, complete referrals, and provide status updates as it pertains to the homeless population.

EXAMPLES OF WORK
Conduct Community Outreach and Coordination:

Plan, organize and carry-out outreach activities to all regions of the county, to increase the visibility of CCDSS in the community; develop greater community awareness of the programs and services provided by CCDSS; represent CCDSS at community events cultivate and leverage relationships to improve use of available resources and initiate new services in accordance with the CCDSS mission and vision. Identifies new opportunities for collaboration, community involvement and partnership. Coordinate the staffing of events with additional CCDSS employees from the unit, division, and agency.

Case Management:

Interview customers and analyze information by utilizing knowledge of program policies, procedures, and regulations in order to determine eligibility for Family Investment programs. Perform case management activities through caseload maintenance, use of automated systems, organization of materials and program knowledge to support accurate and timely issuance of benefits. Provide quality service to all customers (internal and external) when interacting in person, by telephone or in writing according to established guidelines.

Reporting and Accountability :

Provide weekly reports to track outcomes of services provided. Update the daily logs of all activities. Maintain a monthly calendar shared throughout the agency. Attend all mandatory meetings such as Division, Unit, and All Staff.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Education: Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate.

Experience: One year experience providing information on eligibility programs or comparable public speaking within the community

Salary: $21.63 per hour
