Job Description

Advance Advisors is in search of a Roman Catholic Priest that can provide ministry to the Roman Catholic personnel of Marine Corps Base (MCB) Hawaii and their families on a part-time 20 hours per week basis. The Catholic Priest, serving as a chaplain at a military installation, provides pastoral care, spiritual guidance, and religious services to military personnel, their families, and civilian employees. They minister to individuals of the Catholic faith within the military community, offering support and assistance in various aspects of religious life.

Description of Duties and Service:

  • Sunday Masses: 0930 and 1700, including any baptisms during, or after Mass.
  • Sacrament of Confessions: Prior to Sunday Mass and upon request.
  • Baptism preparation, pastoral counseling
  • Religious Education: First Communion, Confirmation and RCIA preparation.
  • Scheduling may vary, depending upon pastoral needs of the Command Religious Program. A Mass shall be defined as the celebration of the Eucharist according to the Latin Rite of the Roman Catholic Church. Sunday Mass normally last approximately 40-60 minutes but occasionally may extend up to 90 minutes. The Contractor shall only conduct Roman Catholic services and support as delineated.
  • Holy Days and Special Services, Sacraments of Confessions, Baptisms, and religious counseling.

Qualifications:

  • Certification or endorsement for military chaplaincy from a recognized Catholic diocese or religious order (Catholic priests who celebrate the Sacraments for Catholic personnel on military installations are required to have the endorsement of the Archdiocese for Military Services, USA (AMS). AMS is the only Department of Defense authorized endorser for the Roman Catholic Church. They grant endorsements and subsequent faculties only to those priests who will be contracting directly with the contracting office of a military installation. This certification will need to be obtained before the contractor can begin their assignment.) .
  • Previous experience in pastoral ministry, counseling, or chaplaincy preferred.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, empathy, and ability to work effectively in a diverse and challenging environment.

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $18.72 - $22.55 per hour

Expected hours: 20 per week

Work Location: In person
