Because of the temporary nature of these appointments, Casual Hire employees are not eligible for most benefits provided to regular Board of Regents or Civil Service employees. Casual Hire appointments may last for up to 89 days for full-time employees, and up to 1 calendar year for part-time employees.

Duties
& Responsibilities:

Will support the Interim Chancellor and the newly appointed Chancellor in the overall management of Hawaii Community College during transition periods. It will provide guidance and assistance in the overall administration, management, development, and integrity of the campus. Specifically,

  • Assist in planning and setting priorities for the College, managing resources including budgets and personnel, and ensuring implementation of related statutes, regulations and policies.
  • Support the provision of academic programs and services, student success initiatives.
  • Provide guidance to Interim Chancellor on college policies and procedures.
  • Works cooperatively and productively with administrators from other campuses and programs to advance the interests and goals of the campus.
  • Undertakes special duties not elsewhere described.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Possession of a Bachelor’s degree in Education, Arts & Sciences or related field and 5 years of progressively responsible professional experience with responsibilities for academic support in an institution of higher education; or equivalent education/training or experience.
  • Any equivalent combination of education and/or professional work experience which provides the required education, knowledge, skills and abilities as indicated.
