Outreach and Volunteer Coordinator - Hampton Roads Region (Part-Time Contractor Position)

Responsible to: Prevention and Outreach Team Coordinator

Pay: $25 per hour

Schedule: Monday-Friday, 9am-5pm, some weekends and evenings (up to 32 hrs/wk)

The Hampton Roads Outreach and Volunteer Coordinator is responsible for the coordination and implementation of all public awareness and outreach program activities, as well as managing the volunteer program in the Hampton Roads Services area. This position requires frequent evening and weekend work.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Develop a comprehensive public awareness and outreach plan for the Hampton Roads Services area, ensuring the use of best-practice curricula and strategies.
  • Conduct and/or plan education workshops and presentations, including the use of pre- and post-tests to measure impact.
  • Maintain and build partnerships with allied agencies in the Hampton Roads region, including updating Cooperative Service Agreements on a regular basis.
  • Distribute appropriate outreach materials throughout the Hampton Roads service area on a regular basis.
  • Implement awareness campaigns, write articles for newspapers, create Facebook posts, and develop serial stories to engage the community.
  • Ensure thorough and accurate records of all outreach events and material distribution in the Hampton Roads area.
  • Manage the volunteer and intern programs, integrating volunteer/intern service into all levels of the agency as appropriate within the Hampton Roads region.
  • Ensure all volunteers/interns in the Hampton Roads area are fully trained and prepared to support the organization's mission.
  • Ensure volunteers in the Hampton Roads region are appropriately recognized through appreciation events and interactions.
  • Organized awareness events at least once per quarter.
  • Ensure accurate and timely documentation and reports, including LGL, Documenting Our Work, client satisfaction surveys, and VAdata for the Hampton Roads Services area.
  • Organize and set up information tables at community events throughout the Hampton Roads area to promote awareness about domestic and sexual violence dynamics and educate the public about the services available to them through the organization.

Requirements:

  • A minimum of one year of relevant experience working with the Latino Community
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively with a wide variety of people and organizations in the Hampton Roads community
  • Bilingual, English-Spanish
  • Excellent writing, public speaking, and communication skills
  • Ability to plan, coordinate, and implement projects in the Hampton Roads region
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines
  • Demonstrate effective, critical thinking strategies and appropriate decision making
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills, including the ability to multi-task
  • Strong computer skills. Experience with Google Tools, Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint preferred
  • Ability to maintain a compassionate and professional approach while working with people in crisis situations, who are of diverse ethnic, religious, national, educational, language, sexual orientation, cultural, and class backgrounds in the Hampton Roads area
  • Reliable transportation and a valid VA state driver's license
  • Successful background check
