About This Career Opportunity

The Life Enrichment Assistant:

• Coordinates and arranges for activities and events for residents.
• Assists with implementation of daily activity programs as needed.
• Works closely with Life Enrichment Director in providing programming to stimulate and support the social, physical, and emotional functioning of the residents.
• Assists with implementation of the daily activity programs as needed.
• Promotes a safe environment. Understands all safety procedures. Demonstrates the ability to remain calm in emergency and/or stressful situations.

Assists with implementation of the daily activity programs as needed.

Responsibilities

ECA Core Competencies

• Consistently exhibits core competencies of: ECA Experience, Personal Appearance, Attendance, Resident Confidentiality, Licensing & Standards, In-service Education, Resident Compassion, and Safety

Life Enrichment Coordination

• Good attention to detail. In cooperation with Life Enrichment Director, arranges logistics for group activities and events.
• Works closely with Director to ensure that volunteers are provided when needed.

Life Enrichment Organizational Skills

• Prepares and publishes activity calendars and promotional materials.
• Contacts adult education, community groups and individuals as needed to arrange for programs, classes,or other special events.

Life Enrichment Program Coordination

• Works with other program staff to coordinate various activity programs, sharing resources as appropriate.
• Interacts with residents, families, coworkers, managers and other departmental personnel in a kind, knowledgeable, professional and friendly manner to promote service excellence.

Life Enrichment Support

• Provides support for and participates in or leads activities for various resident groups.

Resident Safety

• Promotes a safe environment. Understands all safety procedures. Demonstrates the ability to remain calm in emergency and/or stressful situations and provide appropriate leadership.

Qualifications – Position Requirements

• At least 18 years of age.
• Cleared Criminal Record clearance through the Department of Social Services prior to presence in the community.
• Health screening and TB test results not older than 6 months.
• Current First Aid Training and Certifications as per Title 22.
• Minimum of one year of experience working in an elder care setting strongly desired.

Skills and Attributes

• Sensitivity and knowledge of working with older adults and the aging process.
  
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Knowledge of aging process and implications of aging in a social setting.
• Ability to communicate professionally with residents, families, peers and employees in a multi-cultural environment.
• 1-2 years in long term care, home care or related field preferred.
