Position Overview:

Now Hiring! Assistant Harbourmaster.
Pay type: $18hr.
Location: Jacksonville, FL.
Schedule: Part-time (weekends and nights).

What You’ll Do:
  • Report directly to the Harbourmaster, responsible for assisting in the operation and maintenance of the Queen’s Barbour Lock System.
  • Maintain a courteous relationship with the vessel owners and guests.
  • Respond promptly to vessel owners and guest complaints and or requests, being able to bring a satisfactory solution.
  • Assist the Harbourmaster in enforcing the Harbour Rules and Regulations.
  • Assist the Harbourmaster in the monitoring and operations of the Queen’s Harbour lock system and maintain adherence to the Queen’s Harbour policies and safety standards, in the absence of the Harbourmaster, assist the A.R.B. in the proper installation of homeowner’s docks within the confines of the lagoon.
  • Inspect and maintain the floating dock and the fish cleaning station during the shift.
  • Assist the Harbourmaster in maintaining a competent staff; Monitor the water levels inside the lagoon.
  • Patrol the lock grounds and lagoon near the lock for trash and any floating debris.
  • Report any suspicious activity to the Harbourmaster and the Property Manager, with follow-up to the access control supervisor.
  • Assist the Harbourmaster in overseeing the Manatee protection and education program.
  • Maintain the lock office and Queen’s Harbour boat as required.
  • Maintain a high level of interpersonal skills to work effectively with the vessel owners and guests.

What You’ll Need:
  • Knowledge of boating skills and seamanship, and knowledge of basic mechanical concepts, college or trade school is desirable.
  • A basic working knowledge of Federal and State environmental requirements and standards.
  • The ability to “think on your feet” and maintain a calm outlook on any situation that may arise.
  • Monitor the marine V.H.F radio and have a clear concise radio communication.
Hazardous Chemicals and Working Conditions:
  • Variety of chemicals may be used during the course of the duties, not limited to but may include Windex, Liquid Whiteout, Bleach, paints and Lubricants, various oils, gas and other chemicals required for the maintenance of the lock and cleanliness.
  • May work in an Air-Conditioned office and/or will be exposed to the outdoor weather daily.

Pay Range: USD $18.00 - USD $18.00 /Hr.
