Job Description Plans, provides, and implements art within the healthcare setting. Utilizes a variety of mediums to allow for expressive and creative experiences for patients and families in a safe and therapeutic setting.
Experience
1 year of experience in teaching/providing art experiences to children
Experience with children in a group setting
Preferred Qualifications
Experience in special needs/hospitalized children
Computer skills
Education
Bachelor’s degree in Art Education, Art Therapy, or related field
Certification Summary
Basic Life Support (BLS) within 30 days of employment
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Must be able to work under deadlines, with multiple tasks, and with individuals representing all levels within the organization
Excellent communication skills and the ability to communicate well in person, in writing, and on the phone
Demonstrated experience with pediatric age-appropriate treatment and practice
Interpersonal skills
Job Responsibilities
Facilitates group and individual art experiences, focusing on creativity and therapeutic opportunities.
Encourages ongoing participation of long-term patients with multipart activities tailored to individual interests and therapeutic needs as referred by a Child Life specialist.
Maintains a safe and therapeutic environment for individual and group art experiences.
Supervises Art Program volunteers.
May assist Child Life specialists with legacy-building and family support at end of life.
May assist and collaborate with the Foundation, Marketing and Public Relations in fundraising events and donor relations/activities.
