This program serves to improve the overall well-being and quality of life for Arizona’s Family Caregivers. To do this, we offer a variety of support services, with a particular focus on caregiver respite, including one-to-one assistance in accessing respite and support groups, education, and culturally relevant resources. Members will function as navigators to find supportive information and resources, refer caregivers to services, and assist caregivers in gathering important documents. Members will educate family caregivers about resources and programs that can help reduce stress and the burden of caregiving so that they may remain in good health and provide ongoing support for their loved one in their own home. Members will work to build awareness of the need for caregiver respite and being prepared for situations that may require emergency respite. Members will provide respite care directly to caregivers. The minimum required hours per week for this position is 16 hours per week for quarter-time members and 10 hours per week for minimum-time members and 5 hours per week for abbreviated-time members. Members can complete these hours M-F 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. with some remote service possible.
Member Duties : • Respond to phone/email inquiries from caregivers and provide reassurance phone calls • Research and identify resources based on the caregiver’s specific needs • Work 1-on-1 with family caregivers to explain and access resources, in-person or electronically • Recruit and schedule participants for caregiver educational programs • Assist in scheduling and facilitating family caregiver educational programs • Present information on caregiver resources to small groups • Educate caregivers on the need to be prepared for emergencies and having an emergency respite plan • Work 1-on-1 with caregivers to complete a toolkit with important documents • Provide respite care directly to caregivers, as feasible under any restrictions • Collect and maintain relevant data • Participate in pre-service training and monthly meetings throughout the term.
