The Unit Secretary displays positive support for the values and mission of RMC. Performs clerical, receptionist, and marketing duties in accordance with the philosophy, goals, and objectives of Rose Medical Center. Coordinates and facilitates the office functions to ensure high quality services. Answers the telephone. Schedules patients for procedures, coordinating departments and physician availability. Performs patient admission functions, obtaining accurate and complete information. Transcribes physician orders and creates/maintains accurate patient medical records. Inputs all patient charges. Checks the Daily Activity Journal (DAJ) on a daily basis. Manages unit supplies, both routine and special orders, to maintain adequate department supply levels. Stocks patient care rooms. Performs word processing and computer skills, including statistics, log sheets, ANSOS, and other items on an as-needed basis. Maintains schedule and attendance records. Assists with new employee processing. Kronos editor. Assists the RNs with staffing issues. Interacts with other departments on an ongoing basis to facilitate optimum operations, including marketing ATU’s services. Maintains and updates the Policy and Procedure Manuals. Performs other duties as requested by the Director.
Licensure/Certification/Registration:
Education: High School Diploma or GED, College degree preferred but not required
Experience: Minimum of three years of recent hospital clerical/receptionist/office experience preferred
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Must be competent in medical terminology. Excellent computer skills and trained in various computer programs, such as Microsoft Office, Excel, Meditech, and Kronos. Excellent customer service skills. Must be able to communicate effectively and professionally with co-workers, patients, physicians and their office staff, and the public. Demonstrates good organizational and technical skills, as well as good problem-solving skills. Able to work on multiple tasks in a busy atmosphere.
